Jiran Cafe Kota Bharu

Hey there
I have just came back from Langkawi trip,
and thought about updating my blog!

My blog have been really dusty since I haven't update any post for the part few weeks.
Graduation was in a hurry and crazy mood.
I have been really busy with thesis, assignments, exam, presentations, and shifting my things back to hometown.

Now that I have finally settled few things before I start my new life in Pulau Ketam,
I try my best to spend some time to finished some of the posts that were left untouched.
There are actually quite a lot of good restaurants I have  thought of sharing them with you guys so I shall not procrastinate.

So today, I am sharing a Malay restaurant with western cuisine to you guys.
It's called the Jiran Cafe
(scroll to the end to know the location and more information.)

The environment is based on Italian style,
with bricks and woods and tuned into a warm lighting.
Really good to look on real eyes,
but bad to captured good pictures in here since the light is a lil too soft.

The open-air kitchen,
clean and highly organised.
allowing customers to watch how the chefs working and serve their foods.
I like this concept very much because it makes me feel 'safe' to eat their food.
I can pretty much assure that my food is served in a good hand.

The walls are decorated with few decorations
Simple and delicate.
Just nice.

Here comes the food!

Seafood Aglio Olio.
I am not really keen on eating aglio olio but this one,
It's really nice!
Just the right amount of olive oil,
topped with bacons and my favourite cherries,
it creates a mild taste with a lil sweetness.
This is one of the best Aglio Olio I have tried so far.

Chicken Chop.
They comes with two choice of sauces (if I am not mistaken),
black pepper or barbeque sauce
The whole serving is so large that you can share it with your friends.
The chicken is crispy on the outside, and soft on the inside.
Well-cooked, and tasted good even eating on its own.

Besides that,
Italian pizzas are served there as well.
There are quite a few choices of pizzas,
but the taste is just on the average level.
If you really crave for Italian pizzas,
They served the best Italian pizzas in KB town.

Grilled chicken.
I tasted it on the other day of visit.
It tasted brilliant!
The chicken was well-cooked.
Very juicy and tasted good with the sauce.
and the serving was big as well :)

I have also tried their truffle on the other day of visit.
(You see I have visited the place quite a few times!)
Not very good, but the what delighted me is that it's not too sweet.

Overall,
Jiran Cafe is worth to pay a visit.
They are quite a few things that I haven't got the chance to try on,
but most of the food there are pretty good in taste.
Their price is cheap and consider reasonable by its serving.

I will end this post with this lovely quote that hanged around the restaurant.

Happy eating :)

Bike Station @ Kota Bharu

Hey there
trying to update you about a new restaurant I found in KB.
it's called the "Bike Station"
so basically, bike (aka bicycle) is their main theme.
Scroll down if you want to know more :)

They have quite a few bike hanging around the wall,
which kinda remind me of that "Wheelers Cafe" in Penang

The restaurant is on the first floor
The base was actually like a whole lot of bikes ready to rent.
So if you want some activity to do during the evening,
rent their bike for a stroll around the town,
and get back for a refreshing meal. :)

(scroll down for more info)

The environment of the restaurant at the first floor.
Not totally related to the theme but well,
they have enough of that downstairs :D

There's quite few accessories ready to sell at the corner of the stairs.
Feel free to check them out :)

I'm guessing the restaurant owner is a Taiwanese since the goods here are
Like the Taiwan's accessories.

Anyway, jump into the food paradise! :D

Jing Wen's Tapas kinda thing.
Couldn't remember the name of the dishes LOL :D
It's quite delicious but it will not be enough for a big eater for me.

Mine Chicken Chop Rice.
I have not regret.
The  sweet and sour sauce hasn't been too much.
The rice is just enough to tempt my stomach,
and the chicken has fried in a good way that it is crispy on the outside, soft on the inside.
Make my stomach so happy that day :D

Nee's Sichuan noodle 炸酱面
It's kinda more of a healthy food choice in my opinion,
But Nee said it was tasteless.
The amount of sauce is not balance with the amount of noodles.
So it makes the taste mild.
Would be better if they have more sauce for such huge bowl of noodles.

The dessert I have ordered.
Banana Chocolate Ice Blend.
Came out that the ice was not fully blend,
more like cubes for me.
and the chocolate was not enough to be called cocholate.
The Banana was indeed the main thing,
but overall, nothing special about it.

Nevertheless,
we have a wonderful night together.
It was not about the food,
it's about the moment we spend together.

Regarding the place,
I would say there're a lot to be improved.
Malay food was accepted,
but not the others.
It's a good place to hang out with friends.
Environment was nice,
so if you want some good place to chill,
this can be it. :)
However, I have seen quite a few new dishes coming up on their FB sides,
All look tempting!
Would give them a try on the next visit!

Good luck trying! :)

Comma Cafe, Shah Alam

Hey there!
Let me bring you into another coffee world.
Comma Coffee Cafe.
Located in Shah Alam,
Comma Cafe is quite a worth-while coffee shop if you want to ave a good coffee and hang out place around the area.

(Address at the end of the blog post.)

They'll have their promotion written on a board for notification.
It's a good way for client to review before the entrance.

Big big comma and its symbol at the wall on the way up.
I personally think that the owner is super creative because I've never found comma and coffee bean can look alike! (y)

The way to the coffee world :)

We went there during  earlier the lunch time.
There were no people yet until later
So I make full use to this opportunity to capture this beautiful environment.

Love the concept of the wooden tables and chairs cause it promotes environment friendly concept.
I don't know if they are really made it by the used wooden, or bought it at the IKEA Stores, but at least it has that more eco-friendly feeling for me.

I even love the wall!
Look at that air baloons! It was all made up of papers!
Just cut it into different size and hang them around the wall.
And you just got yourself a beautiful well decorated wall design!
What a wonderful concept, cheap and yet attractive.

All right, now come to the food part.
Their menu.

Their dessert counter.

Ok, keep calm, and carry on with getting fat :P

Green tea latte.
It has a very strong green tea smell, with a coffee taste afterwards.
It is better than Starbucks version, but still,
It's a little too sweet for me.

Their cappuccino.
I can say that this is pretty good. the temperature was a little low when it was served.
So if they can fix this, it could be perfect.

Yong Wei, available.
Grab his contact number from me if you are interested ha! :D

Our food is served!

Vegetables burgers.
I like how this cofe has offer something for the vegetarians.
And it's pretty yummy too!
Made up of eggs and tomatoes, the little burgers is so fresh to bite :)
Pretty decent but delicious.
Quite a home-y choice of food.

Cheese Bake Rice.
I love Cheese Bake Rice since I first tried it in Pizza Hut.
They put in a metal plate, allowing the rice and cheese to be warm until the last bite.
In here, it was served in a plate.
The taste was good although it was cold at the very end of serving.

We also tried their velvet cake.
It's a little too sweet for me,
but I know velvet cake is meant to be this sweet so I've prepared myself to taste it.
I don't know if the real velvet cake has the beetroot scent,
but none of the velvet cakes that I have tried has the taste of beetroot.
So I assume this one is not much different from the others.

Overall, I would say that this cafe is a worthwhile cafe to try.
I am in totally impressed with the decoration and environment.
Food wise, it was pretty average.
After all, you can say that it is one of the best cafe in town. ;)

All right!
That's it for today!
Have a wonderful day ahead and I'll see you next time! :)
